Founder President BCIF( BC Intellectuals Forum) Recently, some BJP leaders have been commenting that "reservations are being given to Muslims on a religious basis, which is against the spirit of the Constitution."   First, one thing must be made clear — The Indian Constitution does not permit religious-based reservations. That is a fact.   However, the same Constitution used the broad term "Backward Classes." This term is not limited to caste alone, nor is it restricted to any single religion. The triumph of BC candidate Naveen Yadav in the Jubilee Hills by-election is not merely the victory of one candidate—it is a historic roar symbolising the political self-respect, dignity, unity, and struggle for social justice of the Backward Classes (BCs). Although BCs form the majority of voters in this constituency, dominant caste parties have long ignored this reality, traditionally awarding tickets only to their own. This time was no different: both the BJP and BRS fielded Reddy–Kamma candidates. In contrast, Congress put forward BC candidate Naveen Yadav. The decision to grant tickets to upper castes pushed years of pent-up BC dissatisfaction into the ballot box like a tidal wave.
